Not exactly Hampton Court. Not yet ...

The gardens have spent all summer growing with their normal enthusiasm. The greenhouse and new vegetable garden have produced vast quantities of leeks, tomatoes and lettuce. The newly planted chocolate vines have started their ascent of the table tennis court yard. The trees in the orchard now look like real trees and might even produce enough apples for our first “vintage”. However it is the maze which has been our especial obsession. Bits of it grew, bits didn’t. Bits were resplendent with red, white and yellow blooms while other areas sulked in green anonymity. Hopefully next year, all the seeds from this year’s flowers will generate a picture perfect array of wild flowers. Until then, this is about as good as we got for 2021.
