Carrot Heaven

Having not seen the maze in a few months, I turned the corner by the swimming pool not knowing exactly what to expect. Would it still be a blanket of yellow, white and red flowers? Would it have wilted and died in the heat of the glorious summer? I certainly was not expecting what I saw - a forest of wild carrot, yarrow and teasal reaching up to my shoulders. The sundial in the middle had vanished in between great wild flower walls and the maze, admittedly rather easy when the flowers are at your knees, was now almost taxing. I wandered down the pathways, watching the bumble bees drift between the flowers and made a mental note to book to come back to Oakfield as soon as possible.
